666 – The Mark of the Beast and the End Times Antichrist

Envisage a future where all the data feeds about your life are collated, quantified and stored on one data stream by an electronic chip embedded into your skin, on your right hand or forehead. All your medical records, government documents, GPS location feeds from your phone and car, your spending habits, credit cards, everything you liked, read and shared online, plus your banking history, information about your friends and family from social media, and religious affiliation.

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the Beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666

When I was in China, I found this nation has already pioneered the art of the absolute surveillance state with the use of smartphones, data feeds and surveillance cameras. Following China, governments worldwide have also shown they will create apartheid states where ‘the good people,’ enjoy full access to ordinary life, but the ‘selfish people,’ are excluded from large events, travelling and the workplace.

Covid vaccine mandates represent a premonition of something far more deadly prophesied in Scripture: the all-powerful Antichrist dictatorship. The day is coming when the Mark of the Beast will be forced upon everyone and those who resist will be unable to buy, sell or partake in society. The Bible predicts this evil era is approaching:

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a Mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the Mark or the name of the Beast, or the number of his name

– Revelation 13:16-17

In the introduction to the Book of Revelation, the Lord Jesus Christ explains that His end time prophecy contains something about the present (first century) and the future: ‘Write the things which you have seen and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this’ (Revelation 1:19).

In the first century, the Mark of the Beast or 666, was a code to identify the dictator and persecutor of Christians, Emperor Nero. 666 is the numerical equivalent of the name and title Nero Caesar. In Latin, Nero Caesar is equivalent to 616, which is why some ancient manuscripts use this number. St John was warning Christians not to worship the Beast of their time, Nero, nor to accept the Mark of the Beast by worshipping anyone other than Christ.

They have no rest day or night, who worship the Beast and his image, and whoever receives the Mark of his name

When Roman citizens offered a sacrifice in worship to Caesar, they were given a Mark; in Greek, the word is charagma (χάραγμα). This Mark was the official imprint on documents and it was found on coins. We possess evidence for the demand for this Mark in the time of Emperor Decius (249–251 AD), when all were compelled to prove a certificate of sacrifice (libellus) to Caesar, or they too were prohibited from trading. Without the Mark, one became a lawless outcast from society.

The augmentation of the end times Mark of the Beast is progressing fast, with the technology already being developed. Each year, companies are evolving technology that will make the Mark of the Beast a reality.

One thing pressed upon me in my study is that the Church can resist the coming person of the Antichrist, for a season, in order to save souls in this generation. God has warned the Antichrist is coming; we must resist, prevail and overcome the enemy for another season of Holy Spirit revival! As Peter discovered, the times and seasons are dependent upon the obedience of the Church:

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
