How to Free Yourself from Evil Spirits

Free yourself from the influence of evil spirits with this prayer of declaration. The following prayer is used with permission from the book Discipleship for Everyday Living by Mathew Backholer:

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You are the Son of God and the only way to God – that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again so I might be forgiven and receive eternal life.

I now humble myself, renounce all pride and religious self-righteousness, and any dignity that does not come from You.

I confess all my sins before You and hold nothing back. Especially I confess and turn away from ____________, asking You Lord, for mercy and forgiveness.

I now empower myself to find freedom by forgiving all who have ever harmed or wronged me. I lay down all bitterness, all resentment and all hatred. Specifically, I forgive ____________, I also sever all contact I have ever had with the occult or with all false religion, particularly ____________ and I commit myself to get rid of all objects associated with the occult or false religion.

Now, Lord Jesus, I thank You that on the cross You were made a curse, that I might be redeemed from every curse and inherit God’s blessing. I also thank You Lord that You drove out demons and gave this power to me, Your disciple. On that basis, I ask You to release me and set me free to receive full deliverance.

I now take my stand with You, Lord, against all Satan’s demons. I submit to You Lord and I resist the devil. Now I speak to any demons that have influence over, or in me, and I command you to go from me now. In the name of Jesus, I expel you.

I specifically expel the demon of ____________ and I bind the strongman of ____________, and I expel you in Jesus’ name. I declare you have no authority over me in Jesus’ name and must leave because my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

You evil spirit of ____________, I take my stand against you in the name of Jesus. I no longer submit to you. You have no more place in me. I command you to go in Jesus’ name and expel you in the name of the King of kings and Lord of lords, Amen.
