The Great Commission, Go and Tell the Good News to Someone

The Great Commission was Jesus’ last command to His followers – to go and tell the world about Him, the Good News, revealed in the Scriptures below. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature”

– Mark 16:15

Jesus Christ, the Son of God was the greatest missionary because He left His familiar surroundings of Heaven and came to earth. He identified with the people He lived with and moved amongst and came to seek and to save the lost. Our job is to tell people about Jesus Christ, at home or abroad, to friends, neighbours or strangers.

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”

– John 3:16

God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires all people to be saved (Ezekiel 18:32 and 1 Timothy 2:1-4). Romans 10:14 asks, “How shall these people hear and believe without somebody telling them?” Evangelism is sharing with others what Jesus has done for the world, at home or abroad. What has Jesus done for you? Who can you tell? A friend, a work colleague, someone on the train? You can also use evangelical literature, a quality tract or a Gospel booklet, e.g. John.

Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…

– 1 Peter 3:15

God can use anybody who is willing; it’s not your ability, but your availability. Don’t try to squeeze God into your plans, fit into His. All Christians are called to evangelise, though they may not be evangelists. Anybody who has a testimony can speak from personal experience, you don’t have to be an orator. The more you practise the better you become. Be open, willing and available. If you love Jesus, you will want to obey Him and tell others about Him. If He has changed you, He can change others! Why not use social media as a platform to reach out to people? If you are shy, pray for boldness and step out for God trusting in the Holy Spirit to give you the correct words at the right time.
