Climate Change Hypocrisy! The Poor will Suffer for the Rich

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,

for the rights of all who are destitute.

Speak up and judge fairly;

defend the rights of the poor and needy

– Proverbs 31:8-9

The green energy revolution is reforming the world and millions will suffer in dire poverty as a result. Billionaires in private jets have convinced politicians it is sinful for the poor to want affordable heat, food and travel. With energy prices soaring, the cost of food, energy and transport will become an impossible burden for the poorest in the world. Is this a price they should pay?

Power Must be Cheap and Efficient

Choosing to go green and become energy independent are fantastic ideas if they meet two criteria. The power must be cheap and efficient. The world is presently facing a man-made energy crisis because commitment to going green has led to reliance on unreliable wind turbines and other problematic energy sources. Recently, low wind speeds have contributed to pushing up energy prices to the highest in modern times.

Biden’s green energy plans have led to the United States declining as an energy superpower to become a dependant, lowering global energy supplies. But he’s a self-proclaimed ‘nice guy,’ so the poor don’t mind going hungry for him. Everything in the economy is reliant upon cheap energy and without it, all prices surge. Expensive energy is not a problem for those with private jets; it’s a nightmare for the impoverished.

The Poor are Suffering as Celebrities Mock

The poorest in the world are already suffering to appease the guilt of the richest that fly around the world in private jets from their mansions and penthouses. The super-elites are the world’s greatest personal polluters but feel no guilt as they outsource the burden of living carbon net zero to others, with their get-out-of-jail Monopoly carbon credit swaps. It’s hard to take seriously a celebrity who thinks climate change is such a crisis that he or she buys a beachfront property (sea levels rising?) and make no meaningful changes to address his or her’s duplicity. It’s the poor who should change, not us! How can this level of hypocrisy continue?

The Climate Has Always Changed

Scientists are correct when they say the climate is changing. That’s because it has always been changing. NASA says 2016 and 2020 are tied for the warmest years since 1880 and we should be worried. But these aforesaid scientists say the earth is estimated to be 4.45 billion years old. If that’s true, how did the planet emerge from the ice age without factories and cars burning fossil fuels? The answer is natural volcanic emissions. Also, what caused climate change in our overlooked ancient historical texts and the Bible? Perhaps they forgot to read them. Are we living in a time of collective delusion? C.S. Lewis warns:

A man who has lived in many places is not likely to be deceived by the local errors of his native village; the scholar has lived in many times and is therefore in some degree immune from the great cataract of nonsense that pours from the press and the microphone of his own age

The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis, 1949, Geoffrey Bles

Natural Climate Change

Geological data prove there’s substantial historic variation in the earth’s climate. Natural phenomena such as the strength of the sun, variations in the earth’s orbit, solar cycles, ocean currents, airstreams changes, plate tectonics, solar output, volcanic emissions and sulphur venting have all changed the planet’s climate.

Man-Made Climate Change

Man-made climate change is equally real. If you start a fire you are adding to the global build-up of carbon dioxide (CO2), but how much change is owned by us? China is still opening and planning to build more coal-fired power plants, undoing all of our efforts. But what happens if we crush the poor by spending a trillion dollars fighting climate change only to discover a volcano burst undoes all of our expensive sacrifices?

Man-Made Hazards

When greedy developers construct houses on floodplains, concrete over every surface, stopping drainage and choose not to establish firebreaks in the forests nearby, they’re surprised when they experience flooding and out of control fires. When they erect wooden buildings in tornado zones, they’re shocked when they get knocked down. These and many more are man-made hazards. It’s strange when reporters on TV, lost in their confirmation bias, don’t realise what’s happening has always happened – flooding, fires, tornadoes – but this time it confirms their climate crisis extremism.

Science or Politics?

One end time biblical prophecy is that the earth’s temperature will increase and if the data we are reading is accurate, this is happening. However, the problem with the climate change debate is that it’s getting impossible to separate statistical scientific data from politics. The money and power to be gained can be besotting. When radicals scream “climate change projections” with hysterical belief they become too neurotic to accept the danger of the cycle of confirmation bias. What about the unreliability of measures magnifying as you project into the future? The experts have been wrong before.

The Heresy of Finding Historical Climate Change

It’s becoming heretical to suggest there is confirmation bias in the sciences. This bias represents the psychological tendency to interpret all evidence to an existing hypothesis. They find what they desire to find. If the Dust Bowl of the 1930s took place today, they would attribute it to man-made fossil fuel climate change. Records from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries show a series of catastrophic droughts and floods that led to harvest crises and an increase in the numbers in workhouses.

Further back, data from tree rings show megadroughts in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, which were greater in intensity than the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. When I was in Egypt, I found archaeologists attributed a massive drought as contributing to the demise of Egypt‘s Old Kingdom in 2,200 BC and all other ancient kingdoms have similar stories. Climate records in England provide us with an insight into the changing climate of history. These are a few examples:

  • 1086, The Wet Famine Year
  • 1114, Severe River Drought
  • 1224, Great Winter Drought
  • 1325-1326, Severe Droughts
  • 1362, The Great Storm Tide
  • 1407-1408, Europe’s freezing winter
  • 1473-1475, The Big Drought
  • 1540-1541, The Great Tudor Drought
  • 1607-1608, The Deep Winter
  • 1616, The Summer Drought
  • 1703, The Great Cyclone Storm
  • 1815-1817, The Harvest Climate Crisis
  • 1836-1837, The Great Victorian Winter
  • 1947, The Cruel Long Winter
  • 1953, Storm of the Century
  • 1963, The Big Freeze Crisis
  • 1976, The Long Hot Summer

Worshipping Mother Nature

At COP26, the world pledged to go green and that’s a great thing if the doomsayers of the climate crisis are correct. They prophesy with God-like faith that catastrophic climate change is moments away and we must sacrifice our futures to the god of mother nature before she consumes us for our sin. What if they’re right? Who wants sinking islands and boiling hot temperatures? The evidence we are told is all around: There are fires, floods and heatwaves…but hasn’t there always been?

Trillions to be Spent Hurting the Poor

The West is encouraging spending trillions on plans to make a green revolution that will hurt the poor; meanwhile, CO2 could be reduced with cheaper solutions. Planting trees, managing forests, developing natural CO2 storage in wetlands, encouraging the free market to pay for solutions, government research and development, and it goes on.

The False Prophets of Historic Climate Change

According to the experts who are making a lot of money out of this, we’re in serious trouble. Everybody panic! But science is fallible and statisticians have found modern scientists are wrong far more than we think. Climate change predictions in the past have also been strangely wrong. In 1971, a NASA scientist, Dr S. I. Rasool, said that fossil fuel burning would lead to fine dust rising into the air screening out sunlight and “such a temperature decrease could be sufficient to trigger an ice age” (Washington Post, 9 July 1971).

The Cooling Earth of the 1970s

After hosting a climate change conference in 1972, Brown University sent an urgent warning to the President of the United States. They declared the cooling earth will lead to famines with ‘substantially lowered food production’ (Warning to the President, Brown University, Department of Geological Science, 3 December 1972).

Predictions of a New Ice Age Suddenly Invert to Global Warming

In 1972, the Guardian also reported ‘Space Satellites Show New Ice Age Coming Fast.’ Ten years later, Mostafa Tolba, the executive director of the UN Environment Program warned, “By the turn of the century, an environmental catastrophe will witness devastation as complete, as irreversible, as any nuclear holocaust.” By 1989, a senior U.N. environmental official said, “Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.”

Christians Founded Environmentalism for the Good of People

As I explain in my book How Christianity Made the Modern World, the modern environmental movement was founded by Christians, who argued we must care for the world because it’s where God’s creation lives. We care because we must love as Jesus commanded. This concept has now been flipped by post-Christian environmentalists who declare humans must suffer to protect the planet. Mark Carney, the former Governor of the Bank of England estimates the cost of financing the net zero pledge to be around $100 trillion! That’s money that could lift every person out of poverty in the world and provide them with a future, or they can spend it making the green pioneers of the future immensely wealthy. What’s ethical?

We Welcome Cheap and Efficient Green Energy

The world’s response to addressing the challenges of climate change will define the twenty-first century. It will make us all poor or green, perhaps both. Those who rage against fossil fuels forget it was this cheap energy that created a global economy that lifted hundreds of millions of people out of extreme poverty within a few decades in China and enabled billions worldwide to rise out from economic misery. That’s not an endorsement of fossil fuels, just the reality. I welcome a future of green energy when it becomes cheap and efficient, but I fear for the impoverished who have no voices, as the rich make their lives unbearably expensive.

Men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory

– Revelation 16:9
