A New Spiritual Awakening – Does the Bible Promise another Christian Revival is Coming?

The demonic spirits of cynicism and unbelief are trying to rob the Church in the West of the promise of a new spiritual awakening. These evil spirits say, “Those days are past.”

Whom do you believe – the enemy or God?

It shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord

– Joel 2:28-31

Did you notice this prophecy confirms God’s Spirit will continue to be poured out until the end times? We can expectantly seek another spiritual awakening until the Lord Jesus returns.

“But we’ve waited so long,” you may say. Don’t be discouraged, we serve a God with whom all things are possible. “But where does it say in the Bible a revival will come in our time?” Don’t fear. Think of those who lived before who didn’t know God was going to move again and yet He did. People told the heroes of past revivals that God’s Spirit would not be poured out, but the doubters were wrong.

Revival Fire, 150 Years of Revivals, Spiritual Awakenings and moves of the Holy Spirit by Mathew Backholer

What Bible did John Wesley read? What promises from God did Evan Roberts plead? What pledge from Scripture did Moody hold onto? What Bible did George Whitfield possess? What verse did Duncan Campbell embrace? What covenant promise did Smith Wigglesworth declare?

The Word of God has not changed. I’m not talking about translations, but the promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. These great revivalists had the same Bible as us. They all had the same promises to pray through. Yes, they believed God would send revival. They prayed through the Scriptures and saw the promise of God revealed. They believed in the God of the impossible, let’s do the same!

With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible

– Matthew 19:26
