Korea – North and South, Revivals & War – Last 125 Years
The first Korean religious revival, the Wonsan Revival Movement (1903-1906), peaked in 1906 with 30,000 new converts in that single year. However, the movement waned and disappeared by the middle of that year. A second wave, the Pyongyang Great Revival (1907-1910), followed. Prior to this revival, Pyongyang in 1907 was a city notorious for its vices, known for ‘wine, women, and song.’

Rees Howells had led the staff and students of the Bible College of Wales in prayer for China on many occasions. In 1936, he sold land and gave it to evangelise one thousand villages in China. Meanwhile, after World War II (1939-1945), whilst the West was occupied with threats from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), a small group of revolutionaries swept themselves into power in China, as Satan sought to capture the souls of one-fifth of humanity!

I saw revival in Korea. I saw more than 25,000 persons profess to accept Christ as Saviour within six weeks. I saw more than four thousand persons daily at 5am prayer meetings. I saw hundreds continue all night in prayer for days on end.
