Discover A Greater Anointing

Not too long ago, many believers were seeking a new anointing on their lives. Some would travel hundreds or thousands of miles to get an anointed person to pray for them. Their zeal for God was often a good thing and sometimes their search was misguided.

The transferral of the anointing is a biblical concept. We learn from Scripture that Elijah’s anointing rested upon Elisha and he later went on to do twice as many miracles as his teacher (2 Kings 2:9).

Some Christians feel frustrated that the ‘breakthrough’ in their lives has yet to happen, because their anointing is not yet ‘strong enough.’ But where does the anointing come from? Does it not come from God, who entrusts the precious anointing into the hearts of the faithful?

If we are faithfully obedient with the little that we have, God will entrust us with more, but if we are disobedient, even the little we have may be taken away (Matthew 25:28, John 15:2).

When we obey God, everything else we need for the task ahead will fall into place. His anointing rests upon those who have been obedient to the Anointed One. ‘But you have an anointing from the Holy One and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth’ (1 John 2:20–21).

It’s not more anointing or power we need – it’s more love and obedience to the Anointed One!

“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much” (Luke 16:10).
