Numbers - Five's

The Five Calls of God

  • General call - of salvation ‘whosoever wills’ (Revelation 22:17.)
  • General call for service - All believers have specific jobs, good works and task to do as part of their calling and destiny (Ephesians 2:10 and 2 Timothy 1:9).
  • Appointed call - the five fold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:10-13).
  • Open call - ‘Who will go’ (Isaiah 6:8) or ‘who will stand in the gap’ (Ezekiel 22:30). The apostle Paul had a Macedonian call ‘come and help us’ Acts 16:9-10.
  • Specific call - Saul was called to be king (1 Samuel chapter 9-12).

    Five Question to Answer

  • Have I been truthful and honest today?
  • Have I been impure today?
  • Have I allowed bitterness to take root in my heart?
  • Has love been my motive in everything?
  • Have I sought God's glory or my glory?

    Five Principals of Testing Faith

  • When God is testing us, that which He asks of us often makes no sense at all. If it made complete sense then there would be no faith involved.
  • You must obey the Holy Spirit without knowing all the details or implications of His will.
  • You may not be permitted to let anyone else know what God is doing with you; (see Nehemiah 2:12 and Proverbs 12:23.)
  • Faith is never brought to maturity without suffering; (see Hebrews 2:10 and Hebrews 5:8.) The worst suffering is generally right before the end of the test.
  • If you complain or murmur then the trial may be aborted or postponed; (see 1 Corinthians 10:1-12.) If you fail the trial then you will only have to take it again in another place with similar circumstances. There are no short cuts with God.
